{"id":591,"date":"2025-03-14T15:00:28","date_gmt":"2025-03-14T14:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.quicoavila.com\/quico-avila\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T19:13:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T17:13:33","slug":"quico-avila","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.quicoavila.com\/en\/quico-avila\/","title":{"rendered":"Quico \u00c0vila"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Freelance sound designer and sound technician.<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My relationship with music began at the age of 8, when I started studying piano at the Mestre Feliu Conservatory in Benicarl\u00f3 (Castell\u00f3n).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since then, sound has always been present in my life and, over time, it has become my profession as a sound technician and sound creator.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical training and first steps<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I trained as a Sound Technician for Audiovisuals and Shows at IES Vila-roja in Almazora. There, I acquired a solid foundation in miking, mixing, and technical setup.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This training allowed me to start working in live sound with companies and projects in the Valencian Community.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I collaborated with Produccions Metr\u00f2nom, La Fam, and La Ravalera Teatre.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I carried out technical and creative tasks in fields such as theater, street performance, and live music.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Specialization in interactive sound<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later, I expanded my training in Barcelona, pursuing a <strong>Degree in Music Production and Sound for the Entertainment Industry at ENTI<\/strong> \u2013 University of Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There, I discovered the potential of interactive sound design, adaptive composition, and production for digital media, especially video games.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Professional services<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I currently work as a <strong>freelance sound designer and sound technician<\/strong>, offering services in three main areas:<br\/><br\/><strong>Live show sound engineering<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I collaborate with sound and lighting companies such as <strong>SOBAGES, FOKUM<\/strong> and with various theaters and festivals.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have worked as a sound and lighting technician at concerts for the Sant Fruit\u00f3s International Classical Music Festival, held at M\u00f3n Sant Benet.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also participated in the recording and live sound technical support during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aqNaE3ZN2Ik\">50th anniversary concert of Companyia El\u00e8ctrica Dharma at Palau Sant Jordi<\/a> (Barcelona, October 2023), under the coordination of <strong>Toni Casta\u00f1o Cansino, head technician of the company TNCNET SCP<\/strong>.<br\/>I am currently part of the 2024\u20132025 tour of the show <em>Lo cant de les \u00e0nimes mudes<\/em> by <strong>La Tremenda Companyia<\/strong>, serving as sound technician for various performances throughout Catalonia.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I provide technical judgment, musical sensitivity, and adaptability in diverse stage environments.<br\/><br\/><strong>Studio recording and mixing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have worked in environments such as the ENTI recording studio and <strong>Estudi Ground<\/strong>, under the coordination of <strong>Jaume Figueres<\/strong>, the studio&#8217;s head technician.<br\/>There, I took on technical responsibility for several professional sessions with active artists, such as <strong>Joan Reggae Drummer<\/strong> (for international producer <strong>Major Seven<\/strong>), <strong>Isabel Florian<\/strong>, and <strong>BlancoTeta<\/strong>.<br\/>These recordings included multitrack sessions with Pro Tools and sound processing with professional tools, always adapted to the style and needs of each project.<br\/>Additionally, I have conducted recordings at the <strong>Jamboree Jazz Club<\/strong>, including the performance by <strong>Elsa Armengou<\/strong> at Jamboree 3.<br\/><br\/><strong>Sound design and music for video games<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of my most recent projects was a virtual reality card game, where I was responsible for the musical composition and audio implementation using FMOD and Unity.<br\/>I have also worked on the development of the video game <em>Rain City<\/em> with <strong>Ludens Studio SL<\/strong>, as part of the European PlayComp program.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My role included sound co-design, music and effects composition, implementation, and active participation in the 4YFN25 event at the Mobile World Congress.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, I collaborated on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bayobxUCQTo\">documentary <em>Fighting the Rare<\/em><\/a>, focused on research into Lafora disease.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My tasks included the recording and technical supervision of voice-overs, as well as technical support during sound sessions.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Professional commitment<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a <strong>freelance sound designer and sound technician<\/strong>, my goal is to collaborate with independent studios, cultural production companies, creative teams, and developers who value sound as an essential part of the experience.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I provide dedication, flexibility, and a creative and technical perspective at the service of every project.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Freelance sound designer and sound technician.
