Brewmaster’s Lair – Sound design and implementation for a video game

Brewmaster’s Lair is my debut project in the video game industry, developed as part of my Bachelor’s Final Project. It is a tactical card game with a medieval aesthetic and immersive setting, compatible with virtual reality.

In this project, I was responsible for composing the original soundtrack, designing and producing sound effects, and fully implementing the audio using Unity and FMOD. The music, inspired by medieval modes and timbres, evolves dynamically depending on the match, while each card on the board has its own fixed sound location, providing spatial coherence even in VR environments.

One of the most exciting challenges was developing an adaptive reverberation system, capable of adjusting the game’s acoustics in real time according to the dimensions and materials of the player’s physical space, calculating the reverberation time.

I also handcrafted the sound effects by combining Foley recordings, synthesis, and digital processing, paying close attention to every detail so that the actions and the ambience felt alive and coherent.

Brewmaster’s Lair was not only a technical and creative exercise, but also a personal experience that allowed me to work end-to-end on a video game’s audio, from the initial idea to final integration, and marked the beginning of my professional path in this sector.
